performance when scanning large amounts of files is unsurpassed, but this performance doesn't come for free. As you may have noticed, ; needs a fair amount of time to prepare itself and get ready before it actually starts to scan anything. For your nightly scan of many thousands of files, this doesn't matter much, but for some applications, you're more interested in scanning a single file with the least amount of latency. This is what gives you. With the upgrade, you get a server process (vfindd), which only needs to be started once. You also get a fast-starting client application, (vfindc) which of course is drop-in compatible with any of our and products. With this setup, you can scan a single file in a fraction of a second.
In addition to the client-server setup for , the upgrade also lets you connect your own applications directly to the VFind™ server, using SVSP (Simpla Virus Scanning Protocol). This opens a whole new world of possibilities. To demonstrate what you can do as a part of , , and , we will be distributing a small script that turns the VFind™ server into a virus-scanning
web proxy, just as an example of the added value you get when you select the upgrade to any of our family of products.
